We are recruiting for an Assistant Cleaning Manager to be based at a site in York, this is a temporary role until early January 2021 paying £10.77ph on a PAYE basis. Working 5 / 7 days, 8.30am – 5.30pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch.
Duties / Purpose
· Manage, supervise all cleaning staff and all KPI’s
· Maintain and monitor cleaning standards
· Support the recruitment of cleaning staff
· Induct and provide on-the-job training of all new staff in accordance with relevant health and safety practices.
· Be responsible for the enforcement of safe working practice. If serious unsafe practice is observed, report to the Cleaning Manager and suspend works and/or enforce prohibition or improvement measures
· Complete mandatory training such as Diversity and Information Security training
· Manage both staff holidays and sickness
· Assist manager with effective budget management, continually reviewing all factors affecting the operation including agency staff, staff payroll, uniforms etc.
· Provide a high focus on Customer Service ensuring that the team courteously communicate with members of the public, retailers and our client at all times.
· Have a basic working knowledge of computer programs, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
· Be able to allocate and reallocate labour against cleaning contracts and monitor overtime expenditure and report to Area Coordinators
· Ability to compile regular on time weekly / monthly reports fro Building Cleaning Manager.
· Ensure all site related risk assessments are continually monitored, reviewed and updated as necessary.
· Ensure the Continuous Improvement Process is an integral part of the site services delivery and increasingly added value to both the business and our client.
· Ensure all staff is fully trained to adhere to Health and Safety legislation at all times, proactive supervision in the ongoing use of PPE as necessary, ensure all risk assessments are in place and adhered to.
· Line manager the team providing guidance, support and specialist expertise to the team.
· Implement change, new ideas and challenge current operating procedures implementing best practice across the structure.
Key Skills / Qualifications
· Minimum 3 years experience as a cleaning team leader would be desirable.
· Have used a range of cleaning equipment and machines (i.e. scrubbers, polishers, vacuum cleaners Micro Fibre systems etc) cleaning a variety of surfaces (i.e. carpets, hard floors, floor stripping and re-polishing)
· Understand the correct use of colour coded equipment i.e. Micro Fibre systems, Cloths, Mops
· Have a good understanding of COSHH, Health and Safety, Cleaning Method Statements and appropriate Risk Assessments, Manual Handling
· Hold practical experience in cleaning supervision preferred with an ability to communicate effectively with all staff members and the general public, having a sympathetic nature but be assertive in rejecting unreasonable demands
· Be fair but firm in dealing with staff matters, have foresight in responding to the demands of others.
