The Role: Manufacturing Supervisor

Sector: Manufacturing / Construction

Location: Hampshire

Salary: £40,000pa to £45,000pa DOE

My client is a forward thinking, modern hybrid where the two worlds of manufacturing and construction meet to produce a quality focused product.

The Manufacturing Supervisor will oversee the smooth running of the factory production lines and manage the Lead operatives, whilst being actively involved in assisting and directing staff in all disciplines. They will follow a defined sequence of operations to produce finished modules, meeting the required quality standard at all times whilst emphasizing a “Right First Time” approach.

All about you:

Ideally you will come from a strong manufacturing background, but you must be capable, willing and happy to look further than the factory floor and undertake some duties out on site. You will need to be robust, resilient and have the mental agility to manage change and apply best practise in an environment that may be out of your comfort zone. This is a juicy, unique opportunity and you must be excited by the challenges it will present. Experience of working with an ERP system is essential and if you have previously assisted with implementing an ERP System that would be a huge advantage too.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage and instruct the Lead operatives to ensure production output is in line with the production plan by following standard operating procedures
  • Ensure the workforce achieves the required outputs within specified time frames
  • Ensuring “Right First Time” quality output with a safety-first approach
  • Police and ensure company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times
  • At all times ensure all factory staff are working safely and wearing appropriate PPE for the task in hand, raising any issues with the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure RAMs are in place for all factory site activities and review those supplied by sub-contractors
  • Enforce company systems, procedures and policies
  • Identify issues with efficiency and suggest procedure improvements/amendments ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality
  • Assist the Operations Manager to complete staff appraisals and competency assessments in line with company policy
  • Monitor and demonstrate achievement of agreed goals and quality levels and lead on improvement
  • Recording and presenting KPI’s

Essential Key Competencies:


  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment and knowledge of product assembly procedures and/or demonstrable thorough experience of the construction industry
  • Thorough working knowledge of the best Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principals or similar
  • Ability to interpret technical and CAD drawings
  • Experience using an ERP system
  • Manual handling
  • Demonstrable experience within a leadership role
  • Experience of Quality Control best practice

•             Forklift/Counterbalance license
