A large NHS organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Estates - Health and Safety Officer on an interim basis for 3+ months. Due to the complexity of the Estate candidates will only be considered if they have recent NHS/Healthcare related experience.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advice, guidance and instruction on health and safety matters to all employees to ensure that the organisation minimises risk, meets its statutory obligations, and achieves high safety and security standards;
- Review and collate information from the Social Distancing Projects, to review against guidance and gap analysis;
- Undertake health and safety and security inspections/audits of activities/functions and provide timely reports on the above;
- Promote a health, safety and security culture, ensuring that the complex requirements of relevant legislation and regulation are explained and understood, utilising existing tools to support understanding at all levels;
- Ensure that any investigations undertaken into reported incidents to the Risk team are of a high standard and provide guidance and assistance to investigators where necessary;
- Support the implementation of health and safety activities, working within relevant health and safety legislation and Trust strategies;
- Advise on safe systems of work, including providing advice on the provision and use of appropriate protective equipment;
- Support the work to ensure that appropriate steps are taken to create a pro- security culture and that security incidents/breaches are detected and reported.
A successful candidate will have:
- Experience and related qualifications within the field of Health and Safety within a healthcare environment; (IOSH, NEBOSH, RIDDOR)
- Hold up to date knowledge of new or impending legislation and any other mandatory NHS instructions relating to area of work;
- Must have project management experience;
- Good organisational skills, methodical and able to work autonomously.
