A chance to do things differently

Join Norwich City Council and transform the way we look after our city and our people.

Norwich’s property services, environmental services and building maintenance are being taken into direct Council control for the first time in 20 years. This is a huge opportunity for you to shape the way we deliver dynamic, cutting-edge services for one of the UK’s largest council housing stocks, fantastic parks and some of Norwich’s most historic civic spaces and buildings. With your management, we can help more people live better lives and make our city an even more remarkable place to live.

Role details

You’ll play a key role in designing the operating model and infrastructure that will allow us to deliver an outstanding building maintenance and repairs service. Working closely with our management and project delivery teams, you’ll shape the way we work while defining our partner/contractor relationships and providing expert advice to senior management.

You’ll then lead on several wide-ranging projects to make sure our service is as innovative and efficient as possible, developing our IT system requirements, contingency planning, support services and overall offering. Making our staff’s transition to the new service as successful as possible is also a priority.

Who we’re looking for

We need candidates with experience in managing a building repair service, ideally within social housing or the commercial sector. You’ll also be able to develop operating models and contribute to the financial management and business planning of our service. Impressive communication, project management and partnership-building skills are also essential.

Alongside expertise in building maintenance and property management, you’ll also need a relevant professional qualification in building or surveying, ideally RICS or equivalent.

Benefits

We offer all our employees a competitive pay and benefits package, including generous holidays, the local government pension scheme, a range of family and health benefits and working arrangements to suit all lifestyles. Norwich also consistently ranks among the best places to live in the UK and combines a rich heritage with a modern and vibrant atmosphere, making for beautiful, fashionable city that everyone can enjoy.
