We are currently recruiting for 2 Mechanical Supervisors due to a large contract mobilisation. The Mechanical Supervisor will be based near Brandonand will manage a team of 4 engineers, 2 mechanical engineers with a plumbing/pipefitting skill and 2 heating engineers who will look after the gas, LPG and oil.
The role of Mechanical Supervisor is to be responsible for all planned and reactive maintenance across a large portfolio of commercial properties including schools, offices, hospitals, retail units and large warehouse facilities. Managing a team of 4 engineers you will be responsible for all maintenance works as well as refurbishment and breakdown work across the homes. As well as staff management you will get involved with auditing, pricing and subcontractor management.
Duties of the role include:
- Delivering all planned maintenance work across the portfolio
- Respond positively to reactive requests as required, ensuring workloads are managed alongside the planned maintenance regime.
- Supervise and lead a team of Maintenance Engineers carrying out Planned and Reactive maintenance duties to Mechanical, Electrical and Building Fabric systems, plant and equipment, with specific responsibility for the maintenance of mechanical systems, plant and equipment including but not necessarily limited to the following services: a. Heating services; b. Hot/cold water services; c. Gas distribution; d. Ventilation; e. Air conditioning; and f. Other mechanical services.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in the development of maintenance standards and systems / processes for the ongoing measurement and reporting of maintenance performance against these standards, with specific responsibility for mechanical systems, plant and equipment, but also to take action where actual standards fall short of the required maintenance standards.
- Implement training requirements to keep a high level of technical competency within the team. Complete appraisals ensuring personal development for each individual staff member
- Complete return to work m meetings and disciplinary investigations as required. Managing sickness and absence.
- Delivering Staff briefings and toolbox talks.
- Keeping on top of new industry developments and being an advocate for strong levels of compliance and health and safety. Completing risk assessments and method statements. Understand and effectively discharge all relevant responsibilities where nominated as a Duty Holder, Authorised, Responsible or Competent Person.
- Conducting work audits to ensure high levels of work and compliance
- Pricing for small works and creating quotations
- Liaising with subcontractors on specialist works, liaising with the subcontractor management and the security manage to arrange access and schedule in works.

The ideal applicant will come from a hands on background themselves and have experience managing a team. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Qualified in a mechanical discipline
- FM experience
- Team management experience
- Willing to act as responsible person (RP) for compliance purposes
- Good organisation skills
