Salary equivalent £37K
Our client is looking for an experienced electrical estates officer to join their hospital estates department.
The role is on a temporary to permanent basis.
You will be to manage, implement and be accountable for Engineering breakdowns, maintenance, legislation compliance and capital/ minor works schemes in designated Company sites.
The Role
To manage contractors and a direct labour force (DLF) carrying out the operation and maintenance of the systems listed below.
- Fire alarm systems
- Staff alarm and nurse call systems
- Intruder alarm and security systems
- Electrical installations in accordance with all IEE regulations and relevant standards
- Boiler plant (steam & LPHW)
- DHWS & CWS systems
- Air compressors
- Laundry and catering equipment
- Hydrotherapy pool plant and equipment
- Drainage/sewerage
- Ventilation plant
- Air conditioning and refrigeration
- BMS control systems
To manage working instructions and delegate work and tasks to Supervisors and other trade staff as required.
Organise and manage personal day to day work activities under the direction of the Operational Estates Manager
Co-ordinate rolling programmes of engineering maintenance (legionella testing, TMV maintenance, electrical installation testing, etc.), including the organisation and agreement of service users to gain access to wards and departments.
Plan, organise and manage activities relating to engineering maintenance and refurbishment projects including co-ordination with other technical specialists and contractors.
Manage and authorise project and engineering maintenance budgets within agreed and specified limits (typically up to circa £25,000.00)
Manage other trade staff and contractors on day to day issues (ie issue of permits, holiday requests and co-ordination, sickness absence and return to work interviews) in conjunction with the Operational Estates Manager
Qualifications & Experience
A degree in building services engineering or equivalent related subject or with equivalent substantial experience in specific estates related areas
Hold a full UK driving licence
A minimum of 5 GCSE's or equivalent to include English and Maths
Recognised training certificate in autoCAD drafting software
Served a recognised apprenticeship in an appropriate discipline and have an in-depth understanding of Estates services in a hospital environment would be desirable.
Extensive previous general experience in service, maintenance, and repair of all general building services and engineering trades
Significant post qualification experience, use best practice and current methods / industry standards for maintenance
The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications without supervision and translate that information into an understandable/workable format for both trade staff and non-technical colleagues
