JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Job Title: Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical Reports to: Engineering / Technical Supervisor (London)
Location: Central London / Westminster / South East
Context: Working within the Maintenance Team, providing M+E services to support this prestigious Central Government client. The Maintenance Engineer shall be qualified to undertake PPM and Reactive HVAC maintenance tasks across multiple buildings. Additionally, they may be required to liaise technically in project works associated with the Mechanical and Electrical engineering systems across the London estate. The Engineer will be expected to take responsibility for the delivery of these tasks to meet the requirements of the contract and agreed KPI’s.
Job Purpose: To work as a member of the Central London engineering / maintenance team to ensure the M+E services remain operational and in good condition across multiple buildings on the London / South East estate.
You will be required Help to ensure the Maintenance team complete full self-delivery of all possible tasks within region To complete PPMs and reactive work orders within given timescales and with accurate information. Ensure compliance with H&S inductions and the supervision of contractors working on systems under the jurisdiction of our company Coordinate shut down of systems as and when required Manage the consumables and critical spare parts stock levels for sites, including identifying and updating as appropriate to the HVAC discipline. Ensure that the plant and equipment is maintained economically, efficiently and safely according to best engineering practice and to prolong its operating life Manage the effective use and upkeep of designated site documentation working in conjunction with nominated H&S representative ensuring all legal and statutory obligations are met Act as Safety Champion for all sites that they visit raising concerns and “Near Hits” on a weekly basis and actioning resolve where possible
To Establish and maintain excellent working relationships based on open and honest communication with client teams, management and suppliers to ensure confidence in our business and to present a credible and professional image. Assist in ensuring that all work is carried out on all sites to an acceptable level and to consistent engineering and H & S standards. Personal Development To remain up to date with all relevant UK mechanical / HVAC standards and Regulations. To develop and maintain a wide range of M+E knowledge of all the BEIS London sites and their associated systems. To review O+M manuals for new HVAC systems as they are delivered / installed and to advise of any required changes to the ongoing PPM regime. To undertake training for said new systems as required. To actively participate in training for all applicable policies and procedures for Mechanical works and HSEQ. Ideally, the applicant will be already qualified or willing to undertake training and ongoing development for Mechanical AP duties.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Relationships To be a proactive member of the London Maintenance team. To support the team supervisor(s) and managers to ensure timeous completion of PPM, Reactive and Corrective works. This will include self-delivery, support of others in the team as required, and active liaison with subcontractors (gathering specifications, repair quotes, material quotes etc.)
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Qualifications City & Guilds Parts 1 and 2 NVQ Level 2-3 in a Mechanical Discipline or equivalent with (ideally) 18th Edition IEE Regs (BS7671) Working knowledge of SFG20 maintenance specification Other relevant training appropriate to work in a building maintenance environment e.g. first aid, MEWP, PASMA, Water Treatment Systems (L8), BMS etc. Health and Safety Training within a similar environment. Membership of a professional engineering body is desirable Knowledge of Asset management / CAFM / use of PDA’s to manage workflow. Ideally IoSH (Managing Safely) to Certificate level. Ideally LV Mechanical training within past 3 years
Experience Good knowledge of HVAC systems, building services / utilities arrangements in a maintenance environment. Extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary technical team within complex facilities incorporating maintenance and engineering services is essential.
