They specialise in providing mechanical and electrical building services, building fabrics repair and soft services to multiple sectors inclusive of commercial offices, education, critical environments, retail sites, shopping centres, local authorities, distribution and logistics, manufactures.

The Role

Our Client is currently looking to recruit a resident building services supervisor for one of their highly prestigious contracts; they have a newly-refurbished site in Birmingham that requires a resident supervisor to oversee the site's M&E maintenance.

As the Engineering Supervisor you will be directly responsible for a team of all Maintenance Engineers on site. You will be tasked with ensuring that all planned and reactive maintenance is completed and on schedule. This will involve detailed day plans and key targets for the engineers to work towards. This will be done through tool box talks, day to day man management and regular appraisals. You will be the first point of contact for any technical issues, offering advice and generally supporting the engineers on site.

What we are looking for:

The successful Resident Building Services supervisor will of ideally worked in an Engineering Supervisor role in previously and have a broad understanding of electrical and mechanical building services maintenance.

If you are an experienced multi-disciplined Engineer (Electrical with good Mechanical/Plumbing knowledge of building services) with experience of operating a BMS system, you will be considered.

Experience of working in a high-end client environment with regular face to face engagement with building managers will be an advantage. Record keeping and filing of works records would also be a pre-requisite.

Building Services Supervisor Responsibilities


  • Health & Safety and Environmental compliance
  • Be conversant with current Health & Safety legislation with relevance to safe working practices and carry out tool box talks
  • Maintain accurate records of works done and expenditure using this information to report to the Contract Managers as required.
  • Liaise and co-ordinate site activities associated with services for which you are responsible, i.e. Labour planning and ordering of materials.
  • Co-ordinate all site activities, both maintenance and projects and ensure all safety aspects are managed and monitored in accordance with site / contract procedures and requirements.
  • Undertake all tasks associated with labour planning and providiang holiday and sickness cover.
  • Be responsible for the day to day running of the PPM and reactive work requirements and organising the site team in order to meet completion deadlines.
  • Take ownership of the client's needs and pursue good communications with the customer in order to build a stable relationship
  • Carry out Site supervisory audits to ensure quality and completion of work is at the required standard
  • Co-ordinate and manage all preferred subcontractors activity relating to works undertaken
  • Provide cover for Contract Managers when required, ie holidays, sickness
  • Carry out timesheet approval for operatives when required.
  • Plan and co-ordinate, liaise with help desk Manager for all aspects of the duty Engineers, out of hours call out rota
  • Ensure compliance with safe systems of work, risk assessments, method statements etc. and all relevant documentation is adhered to in accordance with company health and safety policy.
  • Undertake site surveys and prepare quotations/information for additional works/repairs.
  • In conjunction with the relevant Contract Managers, assist in annual performance reviews with direct report Engineers.
  • Identify and develop any specific training requirements for direct reports in area.

Qualifications


  • NVQ level 3 - Electrical installation or equivalent
  • City & Guilds 17th /18th Edition
  • City & Guilds 2391/2394/5 (Desirable)
  • City & Guilds 2079 F-Gas Category 1 or equivalent (Desirable)

Building Services Engineer Package


  • Salary: Circa £36,000
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Holidays: 33 days per year inclusive of Bank Holidays
