HVAC Maintenance Engineer

East Midlands

Our Technical Services Division is working in partnership with one of the UK's top 20 Facilities Management Contractors as we seek to source and appoint an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer with extensive Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Capabilities. This is to cover the West and East Midlands areas across a total of 8 new school buildings.

Established since the early 1960's, our client has become one of the leading players in Built Environment Construction and Maintenance, with over 2000 staff nationwide and a glowing reputation across all sectors - but notably in the Healthcare and Education PFI Environment.      

They turnover in excess of £200,000,000 per annum and continue to build a first class reputation for construction and operational support services.      

The Role:

The multi skilled maintenance engineer will provide planned preventative and reactive maintenance services; covering all aspects of the HVAC plant, systems and equipment. Extensive knowledge of Building Controls / Management Systems is required. Engineers will be working with a demanding client to deliver a first class working environment, fully compliant with all UK and EU Legislation. 

You will:

  • Undertake all allocated HVAC reactive and planned maintenance tasks to an agreed standard.
  • Complete tasks within SLA requirements, with work orders opened and closed in real time.
  • Timely completion of reactive and planned works carried out to agreed standards, achievement of first fix and maximising equipment uptime.
  • Effectively diagnose and identify faults and failures with equipment and systems and provide effective solutions and escalate where necessary.
  • Provide regular updates to helpdesk and planning team on task status.
  • Provide HVAC technical support as required, e.g. advice regarding major operational issues.
  • Carry out work in accordance with all health and safety requirements and adhere to best safety working practices at all times.
  • Ensure parts and materials are ordered in a timely manner through company processes.  Fit parts or components as prescribed by company procedures.
  • Ensure appropriate audits and checks are carried out in line with standards provided.
  • Deal with and make safe all health & safety related works following processes laid down by organisation's Health and Safety Policy.

  • Proactively manage task volumes in conjunction with the helpdesk and planning team.
  • Notify the helpdesk and planning team of procedural task condition on completion of works.
  • Complete engineering surveys and technical reports as necessary and cascade all key data to relevant personnel.
  • Attend training courses as and when necessary to ensure skills are kept up to date to meet customer needs.

Knowledge and Skills

  • HVAC Engineering Qualifications such as:
  • Commercial Heating Certification
  • F-Gas (C&G 2079)
  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration C&G
  • Plumbing and Heating C&G

Experience

  • Significant building maintenance experience.

  • Ability to work unsupervised in a high profile environment dealing with our customer's on site teams
  • Committed to delivering exceptional customer service
  • Actively contribute to the team's targets either individually or by supporting others
  • Represent the company in a professional and competent manner at all times and develop a good working relationships with colleagues
  • Ability to provide effective written and verbal communication of all critical corporate and operational engineering issues within the Store Support Centres.
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Ability to prioritise a complex and demanding workload
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn

The post holder must be able to work flexibly, as determined by business requirements, including providing on-call cover. 

The Package:    

Salary between £32,000 to £34,000plus excellent benefits associated with a top tier facilities management company.
