A large NHS organisation is currently seeking a very capable Fire Safety specialist to join their team on an permanent basis. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist fire safety advice, in order to protect people and property, promoting the organisations ethos of creating a safe and secure environment to deliver clinical care; 
  • Providing operational advice on Fire Safety issues relating to healthcare activities and services, ensuring that the organisation’s obligations and commitments to statutory and mandatory legislation are met with respect of fire safety; 
  • Responsible for providing specialist advice on complex health care buildings, fire strategies, tactical planning and support in promoting an embedded proactive culture throughout the organisation around Fire Prevention and overall Safety; 
  • Provide in depth technical advice, supporting the management of non-clinical risks throughout all areas including specialist high risk and vulnerable patient care facilities and promoting use of safe working practices throughout the organisation;
  • Maintain the Trust fire safety compliance under the Regulatory Reform (Fire safety) Orders 2005 and liaise with the fire authorities to ensure safe standards under legal obligation and ensure best practice are achieved and maintained.

A successful candidate will have:

  • Educated or experienced to degree level in fire engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive specialist knowledge requirement of fire safety legislation and NHS Firecode guidance documents; 
  • In depth specialist knowledge of design strategies and tactical plans for complex health care establishments; 
  • Excellent communication skills, ideally has conducted fire training to non-specialist fire staffing;
