Responsibilities
Project Management
- Leads and manages a project or other design and engineering initiatives
- Provides guidance and project leadership in ensuring project or other design and engineering initiatives are meeting or exceeding company expectations
System Operation and Work Practices
- Expert operating knowledge of engineering systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairs
- Ability to apply knowledge of Client processes and procedures and industry standards to resolve non-routine issues
- Utilises safe working practices at an expert level
- Evaluates and assures the safe working practices of others
- Interacts with other engineering, design and construction disciplines
- Works with the capacity and site engineering teams to resolve power and/or cooling limitations and optimise resource utilisation
- Expert knowledge of British Standard Law and Legislation directly relating to their discipline and work practices.
Training
- Contributes to identifying and developing training programs
- Acquires knowledge by expanding experience with systems, vendor training, participation in industry groups or meetings and shadowing others
- Is SME with many systems and trains others inside and outside of the group
Contract Administration
- Executes effective contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of contracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation
Leadership and Communications
- Contributes to mentoring junior team members
- Directs all internal and external project team members
- Directs external vendors per project or initiative such as general contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.
- Expert level communication to include cross functional SOP development and relevant technical writing
- Interactions are primarily to exchange information between departments within the organisation
Policy & Procedure Development and Adherence
- Contributes to creating and maintaining best in class policies and procedures
- Participates in review of policy and procedure documents
- Develops policy documents with the input of others
- Assures adherence to developed standards and policy through review of documentation, participation in commissioning activities.
Problem Solving
- Consistently solves complex, cross-functional issues requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve (i.e., works with local ops team to perform root cause analysis for difficult incidents, proposes solutions to issues and produces lessons learnt for future reference)
- Makes recommendations for system level enhancements to eliminate potential problems
- Tests suitability of components or action plans for deployments
- Technical Expertise
- Has an expert level system knowledge
- Is a subject matter expert to others in and outside of the group
- Extensive knowledge of multiple facets of the relevant engineering discipline
- Develops and executes projects (i.e., a single go-to person for specific topic/system, mentors internally and externally on the system/topic, leads projects pertaining to the subject matter)
- Leads internal and/or external engineering or construction related seminars/conferences
Qualifications
- Several years in operations, maintenance, and project planning with emphasis on mission critical project delivery
- Bachelor's degree or HNC/HND
- Experienced Mechanical engineer
