The Opportunity
Are you a senior property, facilities or estates professional looking for a new challenge? Have you a passion for heritage projects and building conservation? Do you want the role of a lifetime?
This Head of Property position is for you.
We're one of the best-known estates in the world; comprising of iconic landmarks, world-renowned buildings, critical environments and tourist attractions. Our sites are visited by thousands of people every year and in your new Head of Property role you'll be shaping how our estate develops in the future.
As Head of Property you'll be joining a well-established, highly effective and passionate property team at a very exciting time. Alongside the day-to-day maintenance and conservation works, ad hoc projects and planned events the estate is currently undergoing a large redevelopment venture which will keep you busy.
Reporting into the Director of Property you'll have a multi-disciplinary team of M&E, building conservation, surveying and grounds experts underneath you who love the work they do and will be looking to you to suggest paths and initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in both service levels and operational excellence. The budget of the London estate is yours to command (well plan and deploy).
At a senior management level you'll be working in cooperation with a number of peers to ensure aspects like compliance, procurement and tenders are executed well and that high level of service and government is maintained.
A large part of your Head of Property position will involve liaising with numerous internal and external departments. Part of the estate is residential and other areas play host to events so any works and projects have to take account of this whilst the status of the estate itself means various public and private sector organisations also have a stake in the operations - there are a lot of spinning plates to manage.
The Head of Property role isn't for the faint hearted but, if I haven't scared you off yet, it is a great opportunity working within an incredibly interesting estate which would be the highlight of anyone's career.
All About You
If you're an experienced property, facilities or estates professional we'd be delighted to hear from you.
As the Head of Property role involves significant people and budget management you would need to be able to demonstrate a strong background leading a multi-disciplinary, multi-site team and be confident balancing the books. Owing to the numerous high-profile developments going on across the estate experience overseeing projects is going to give you a distinct advantage, alongside a strong knowledge of managing risk and compliance.
The vast majority of our portfolio has listed building status so to hit the ground running you'll need experience maintaining and developing Grade I and II occupied sites.
The Head of Property position involves a lot of stakeholder management and, cards on the table, there's a lot of stakeholders to manage so, whilst it's expected you'll have top notch communication skills, it's going to make your time with us much easier if liaising with internal teams, external bodies, customers, Government departments etc. so something you actually enjoy.
Above all of this you have to love what you do.
Our estate is large and the properties unique and interesting (if we do say so ourselves!) so a passion for property management and conservation so going to go far. The team that reports into you have this enthusiasm, motivation isn't something you're going to need to worry about, so to make a real success of the Head of Property role you're going to need to reflect that.
Owing to the nature of the position you will need a consistent 7 year working history within the UK as the role will require security clearance.
