The Opportunity
If you're looking to use your fire risk assessment background in a job where you are contributing to the local community we have the job for you!
Helping to mould a newly created compliance department within an organisation who put a real focus on social investment and developing local business there's a lot of job satisfaction to be had in this Fire Safety Officer position.
We're a social housing organisation with around 14,500 properties across the North West so the main focus for the position at present is fire risk assessments; ensuring that all our homes are up to regulation and, where areas can be improved, liaising with our internal contractors to bring them back in line.
As Fire Safety Officer we'll ask that you conduct the FRAs and inspections for our properties so you'll be responsible for logging all areas of non-compliance and then taking that to our maintenance and works division to supply the remedial works.
Alongside specialist FRA expertise you'll also be able to utilise your more general health and safety knowledge around areas like legionella, asbestos and gas safety.
On an ongoing basis you'll also act as a technical compliance consultant to larger investment and development projects within the company which will give you something to really get your teeth into.
All About You
If you have a fire risk assessment background we'd love to hear from you!
As mentioned above, a fair amount of the Fire Safety Officer role will be relating to FRAs across our properties so to hit the ground running you'll need to have a good working knowledge of these. It would also be expected that you have experience on the H&S side of things, with a qualification such as NEBOSH to support that.
Any background in legionella compliance would also be handy.
We know that, personality-wise, everyone says they're looking for a self-starter with good organisational and communication skills - we're not trying to reinvent the wheel in that sense but because this position will involve liaising and negotiating with external clients whilst managing the relationships with internal departments you'll need to be confident in your abilities there.
This Fire Safety Officer position will involve travelling to our properties to conduct those risk assessments so you will need a full UK driving licence.
What We Can Bring
Alongside our social value accreditations we like to think we stand out from all the other social housing and commercial companies in the area because of our people. Everyone who joins the team knows their stuff and enjoys what they do, so they create a good working atmosphere.
Our dedicated compliance team is a fairly new unit but we've got talented, highly experienced people already on board who all recognise this is a great chance to come in and shape a department from the ground up. They're now looking for someone who shares that vision to become their new Fire Safety Officer.
