The Opportunity
Our client, a global leader in data centre solutions, is seeking an experienced HV Authorised Shift Engineer to join their high-performing team in Slough.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a mission-critical data centre environment, supporting high-profile banking and enterprise clients. You will play a key role in maintaining operational resilience, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance across critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
Role Overview
As part of the on-site engineering team, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and fault response of high-voltage systems and associated plant equipment. Working within a structured continental shift pattern, you will help safeguard uptime in a high-stakes, zero-tolerance environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Critical Systems
Operate and maintain HV electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, and standby generators.
Manage and fault-find across single-phase and three-phase distribution systems.
Carry out safe switching operations in line with approved procedures and Authorised Person responsibilities.
Mechanical & Building Services Support
Maintain VRV systems and associated mechanical plant as required.
Support maintenance of critical infrastructure to ensure optimal system performance.
Compliance & Operational Excellence
Work safely and efficiently within a continental shift pattern (6 on / 4 off, days and nights).
Ensure all activities are fully compliant with site policies, health & safety legislation, and client standards.
Support critical operations within a data centre or banking environment, responding rapidly to incidents and system alarms.
Candidate Requirements
HV Authorisation – essential.
Proven experience within data centres or critical banking facilities.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in mission-critical environments.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
Calm and decisive under pressure, with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Flexible, reliable, and professional approach to shift-based work.
