With a diverse workforce of over 4,000 employees, the organisation is united by a strong commitment to public service, operational excellence, and national prosperity.
The Property Department, through its Infrastructure Engineering team, is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and protecting the Bank’s built environment. This includes delivering resilient, high-quality engineering services that ensure business continuity across a complex and critical estate.
In addition to supporting core banking functions, the department oversees major capital investment programmes and a broad range of services, including strategic health and safety, facilities management (reception, help desk, catering, cleaning, and post), and travel services. The overarching objective is to ensure the Bank’s facilities—and all associated engineering systems—remain secure, compliant, and operationally resilient.
The Engineering Team The Engineering team comprises approximately 56 full-time professionals providing 24/7/365 engineering support across three critical sites. These locations include a mix of office accommodation, production environments, and data centre infrastructure, all of which demand continuous, high-reliability engineering support due to the critical nature of the systems in operation.
Job Description – Shift Technician As a Shift Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering reliable, high-performing engineering services across the Bank’s estate. You will be responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring critical systems operate safely, efficiently, and without interruption.
